ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

It's better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours and you'll drift in that direction. –Warren Buffett
Warren Buffett, is a believer that one learns through experience; whether it be your own or from others with experience.  His life story illustrates the power of learning from others and models.  Arguably the greatest investor of all time, Buffett is a student of success models in his field.  Along the way, as he gained experience, he added his own creative touches and tones; shaping the models with his own unique thumb print.  He is a living example of how following the right models reap great rewards.
You are surrounded with all kinds of great… role models, business models,  financial models, investing models, relationship models, teaching models, acting and reacting models, relaxation models.  Replicating the right model gets you where you want consistently faster.  It keeps you from drifting, and... Drift Kills Achievement.

94 DAYS ON THE WALL

"Remind yourself regularly that you are better than you think you are. Successful people are not superhuman. Success does not require a super-intellect. Nor is there anything mystical about success. And success isn't based on luck. Successful people are just ordinary folks who have developed belief in themselves and what they do. Never — yes, never — sell yourself short." ~ David J. Schwartz

97 DAYS ON THE WALL

Ninety-seven days on the wall, do you have an Action Plan yet?  During this 100 Day Countdown Challenge we are defining the keys to put our key-chain that unlock the doors to an amazing 2010?  What one thing can you do today that will get you to the goals you set for 2010. Are you adding names to your list of the 12 key people you need in your community and network?

Hours go into creating and refining a business plan or career path; while, little attention is spent on building a life plan.  At some point, you realize that you cannot separate your personal life from work.  What affects one side of the equation affects the other side.   Eliminating stress and finding clarity, balance and synergy are among the top requests from my clients.

Life can change in an instant; a...Last Breath ...Phone Call ...Knock at the Door ...Divorce ...Career move ...Physical Move ...Promotion ...Demotion ...any Unplanned Consequence.   How you manage the change depends on how clearly you understand YOU.

The human spirit seeks security, control, and affection (approval).   Your perspective of life revolves around four stages of growth:  1) Survival, 2) Stability, 3) Success, and 4) Significance. Furthermore, you may confuse significance with privilege.  Privilege speaks to conformity, while significance is the product of transformation.

Even if your desire to grow a business or career,  your  key to balance and harmony into your life begins with your personal life plan. You must put together a plan and build the elements that set actions to your dreams and provide tools to manage and maintain your success cycle.  Remember, success is a strategy... not a destination, and that strategy is defined by you.

Today, start your Manifest Journal.  Set aside a few minutes at the beginning and end of your day to write in your exercises and thought.  Starting from where you are right now, you will create strategies to get you where you want to go, define how you want to live, work and play, and discover what is important to you along the way.

STATUS CHECK - Part I

Think about where you are now in your life.  Consider your work, play, relationships finances and anything that is important to you.

B.     What would it take to be a 10?     What would it take to be a 10+?      What would it take to be a 10++?

C.    List your real life responsibilities (Family, Available Funds, etc.)

D.     WHO ARE YOU REALLY?
  1. What does that mean?
  2. Define that:
  3. Tell me more:

2nd Annual 100 Day Challenge

Can you believe it is already time for our second annual 100 Day Challenge?  We have a tendency to slow down as we approach the end of the year.  I've designed this challenge to build momentum, and set the stage for 2010 to be your "BEST YEAR EVER."

There is a proverb that says, “It is often the last key on the ring that opens the door.”  How many times that very thought crossed my mind as I’ve fumbled through my keys to open a door; particularly living in Houston standing in torrential rain (where a rain drop is the size of five-gallon bucket).

In "Peace... Pass It On", we looked at eleven key people to have in your community and network.  The twelfth person is, “Someone who knows everybody.”

Were you able to put a name beside the key person? Why is it important to have these people in you sphere of influence?  Putting it simply, no one can sustain anything alone.   We are created with everything we need; what we don’t have, we know someone who does.

Today, we start the 100 day countdown to the end of the year.  2010 marks the end of a decade and the beginning of anew.   Over these next 100 days, we will work in three stages: 1) harvest, 2) lay to rest, and 3) prepare.  You will create the foundation to achieve a New Year Intention (rather than resolution). So, put on your track shoes and... "Fire Up."

Today, you start defining the KEYS to put on your keyring that open the doors of achieving what you want in the New Year.

Coaching Notes Action: Identify the 12 key people from “ Peace… Pass it On" .  Remember the 12th person is listed above.

PEACE... PASS IT ON!

         PEACE…

In her recent post in “The Bloomin’ Blog“, Mimi Meredith writes:
“In your quest for inner peace, perhaps you assume peaceful conditions are a prerequisite. Not so. In fact, the best peace practitioners are those who walk into the chaos and the clamor able to summon a sense of balance, calm and perspective that transcends the environment. Building that sense of stable support that grows from a peaceful center has four elements: efficacy, sufficiency, resilience and flexibility."

I love Mimi’s Meredith's insight and philosophy. Life isn’t without chaos whether you create it, or you allow yourself to get swept up in it.  That being said, you are naturally equipped with an internal gyroscope to physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually right yourself.  Magic happens when you recognize that you are perfectly tooled to live happy and amazing lives.  It is up to you to create and maintain your life-infrastructure.

How do you achieve balance, harmony and peace? By distinguishing your core centers-of-peace, adjusting your attitude and building the community and network that allows you grow, achieve and renew?  I wonder... September 21, we start our 100 day countdown to the New Year of Wonder.  How are you positioned for PEACE?  What would that mean to you?  Where would you start?  Read Mimi Meredith’s postings in “The Goodness Grows.”   Then (over the 100 day countdown), we will challenge, vision and define our communities with action steps and key people who both celebrate and support the life we create.

COACHING NOTES:

In his, A Perfect Life(TM) Program, Thomas Leonard lists twelve people you need in your life to build a community and network.  I challenge you to take his list below and replace the word “Someone” with “Who do I know”  and write the appropriate name next to the key.   I wonder, who will show up in your life who is already there and you didn’t see it.

TWELVE KEY PEOPLE TO HAVE IN YOUR COMMUNITY & NETWORK by Thomas Leonard

Someone who loves you for you, just because you are you.
Someone who isn’t afraid to be honest with you
Someone who is more evolved than you are.

Someone who is well-connected.

Some one who can solve your problems for you.

Someone you can rely upon in a crisis.

Someone who you love completely, just because.

Someone who is a cyber/tech wizard.

Someone in your field who is far more successful than you.

Someone who you are mentoring or coaching.

Someone who is mentoring and coaching you.

THE SAVVY WOMAN'S COMMITMENT TO GROWTH

              PERSPECTIVE

It's not always easy to resolve the issues that hold you back.  You  must first identify the problem that puts a hold on your life.  This week we peak at four essentials for growth and a gift that offers great opportunity for perspective.

Create an Environment of Enthusiasm:.  Enthusiasm, according to Webster's Dictionary, means to be inspired; to be possessed by God.  What (or whom) is your inspiration piece? Do you have a God-sized passion?
Evaluate the Best of Your Past:  Your vision statement speaks to where you want to go; not what you left behind.  Learn from your past;  take the good from it and move forward.  Depression and anger stops growth in its tracks.  Do you dwell the past?  Are you ready to bless it and kiss it goodbye?
Build a Personal Life Plan:    What's the point; where are you headed? What will it take for you to achieve your goals?  What are the principles and values you need to adopt to create balance and give you space to make choices, respond and change?.
Take Responsibility for Your Own Success: Take the lead in how you live your life; no one knows better than you what it will take for you to get from here to there.

A GIFT OF PERSPECTIVE

I don't know who wrote the following; it clearly bestows perspective.  Tell me which one speaks to you?

1. Maybe . . . we were supposed to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that, when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.

2. Maybe . . . when the door of happiness closes, another opens; but, often times, we look so long at the closed door that we don't even see the new one which has been opened for us.

3. Maybe . . . it is true that we don't know what we have until we lose it, but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives.

4. Maybe . . . the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

5. Maybe . . . the brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; after all, you can't go on successfully in life until you let go of your past mistakes, failures and heartaches.

6. Maybe . . . you should dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go, be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you dream of, and want to do.

7. Maybe . . . there are moments in life when you miss someone — a parent, a spouse, a friend, a child — so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real, so that once they are around you appreciate them more.

8. Maybe . . . the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

9. Maybe . . . you should always try to put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that something could hurt you, it probably will hurt the other person, too.

10. Maybe . . . you should do something nice for someone every single day, even if it is simply to leave them alone.

11. Maybe . . .  giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back. Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart; but, if it doesn't, be content that it grew in yours.

12. Maybe . . . happiness waits for all those who cry, all those who hurt, all those who have searched, and all those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of all the people who have touched their lives.

13. Maybe . . . you shouldn't go for looks; they can deceive; don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.

14. Maybe . . . you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy.

15. Maybe . . . you could send this message to those people who mean something to you, to those who have
touched your life, to those who can and do make you smile when you really need it, to those who make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down, and to all those whom you want to know that you appreciate them and their friendship.
